Bio
Jaydn Ray Gosselin is a Brooklyn based French-Australian filmmaker who works at the intersection of art and advocacy. He is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Denizen Studios, a multidisciplinary production company dedicated to sparking civic engagement through non-fiction storytelling.
He is interested in how histories, memories, and traumas are embedded in community spaces, hidden sanctuaries, and built environments. Jaydn's productions have been covered in Forbes, The Independent, The Guardian, The Australian Book Review, New York Magazine’s The Cut, openDemocracy, and New York Daily News. His upcoming documentary, directed with formerly incarcerated refugee and artist Elahe Zivardar, on the cruel, secret architecture of refugee detention, “Architect,” is executive produced by the Academy Award-nominee Charlotte Cook and AACTA-nominees Madeleine Hetherton-Miau and Rebecca Barry. It is supported by Doc Society, Amnesty International, Forensic Architecture, the Ads-Up Refugee Network, and over 1,250 individual donors. His short documentary, "Safe Space," was named a finalist for the 2021 Sundance Ignite x Adobe Short Film Challenge.
Jaydn is currently a Co-Creation Lab Fellow at Doc Society. He was previously an Art & Impact Fellow at Doc Society and the Australian International Documentary Conference; a Doc.Lab.Interact Fellow with Anagram, VicScreen, and AIDC; and a Development Studio Fellow at the NYU Production Lab. He holds a BFA in Film & Television from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He resides on Lenape land in New York and was raised on Gadigal land of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of the place we now call Sydney.
